Kokanee Salmon Run The Kokanee Salmon, also known as Sockeye, are currently on the move. The video below shows the Kokanee Salmon making their way upstream from Lake Koocanusa towards their breeding grounds. These salmon are different as they do migrate to the ocean, and live their entire lives in freshwater.
