The Gherkin London:

The Gherkin, London: The Gherkin, aka 30 St Mary Axe, is an example of the ‘new’ London which has been evident for over 10 years now. This skyscraper has a futuristic feel to it, like the Shard, the Walkie-Talkie and the Cheesegrater, these buildings dominate the City of London landscape. Opened in 2004, the Gherkin stands 180 metres (591ft) tall and is situated on the site of the Baltic Exchange and Chamber of Shipping. This site was damaged in 1992 by a bomb placed by the IRA in St Mary Axe. This photograph was taken from the Tower of London and what I love about this scene is the way in which old London stands in the shadows of a newer, bigger, and brasher London. This photograph was taken using an Olympus EM-5.
