Midnight at Birling Gap

Midnight at Birling Gap: The Birling Gap is a small coastal hamlet, found a short distance from Beachy Head. Owned by the National Trust and part of the Seven Sisters, the Birling Gap is in danger of coastal erosion. A portion of a row of coastguard cottages, built in 1878, have already succumbed to the sea. The government will not provide sea defences for this stretch of coastline as they deem it not worth the money. So in the years to come, this National Trust property will be lost to the advancing sea. This photograph was taken using an Olympus EM-5.
