Adventure Movies to get you stoked for Winter in the Mountains
I’ve recently been writing for Destination British Columbia, you can check out my work for them, here.
My last assignment for Destination BC was called Six Shred Movies to get you Stoked for Winter. This article had a focus on movies with segments filmed in British Columbia. This, however, led to some awesome movies being left on the proverbial cutting room floor. But I want to expand and include other genres, but still revolving around a central theme of winter in the mountains.
Vahalla by Sweetgrass Productions
Hands down, Vahalla, is my favourite ski movie. It blends together a sick story with even sicker lines and segments.
180º South by Woodshred Films Inc.
180º South strikes deeply into the heart of the Patagonian wilderness. Following Jeff Johnson as he retraces the 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins.
Mikey Schaefer and FORCE
Duct Tape Then Beer Film, along with Patagonia presents Force. A collection of footage from ten years of Mikey Schaefer’s climbs, summits and misadventures in Patagonia.
Wrangelled – A Ski Movie
A sick movie about ski-touring in The Wrangells St. Elias National Park, Alaska. I interviewed the guys behind this movie, check it out here.
