Three Sisters, Montane, Fernie: Fall is just around the corner, or so we keep telling ourselves. Alas, while the colours are changing in the trees, the intense heat and lack of rain in the forecast makes photographing Fall in Fernie this year somewhat problematic. The backcountry has been shut down, all trails in and around Fernie are closed. The land is dry and we fear the worse if a dry lightning storm strikes. There are huge fires burning in the East Kootenays at present, with friends out there working on the fire line, it’s hard to go about your daily business without thinking about them. This photograph was taken from the beautiful Montane trail network, it offers unique views across the valley to the Three Sisters, Mount Fernie and Mount Proctor. This week I am using the shutdown in the East Kootenays to explore further afield, namely Revelstoke. Revelstoke is a cool mountain town, a lot like Fernie, and I can’t wait to explore. Keep an eye on my Instagram for some exclusive photography from the #therealstoke. Photograph Details: A panoramic stitch consisting of four photographs, 1/50th sec, F11.0, ISO 100, 52mm, shot using an Olympus OM-D EM5. With Fall in Fernie just around the corner, I’m stoked to get out and explore more of the backcountry and photograph the beautiful colours.
