Best of England

“It was one of those perfect English autumnal days which occur more frequently in memory than in life.” P.D James

England, this green and pleasant land, you are, for better or worse, my home. Prior to my winter in the French Alps, last year saw me spend more time exploring my home country than I have done in years.  This photo essay is a collection of the best of England, through my lens.

Surrey

Reigate Heath, Surrey: The woods and heath in Reigate hug the Reigate Heath Golf Club. But in the early morning, as the mist lingers on the outskirts of the woods, there is an eerie calm. Photograph details: 1/3 sec, F9.0, ISO100, 26mm, shot using an Olympus OM-D EM5. If you are interested in purchasing this print, you can do so here.

Headley Heath, Surrey: There is a book called in Search of England by H.V Morton, in it the author offers a charming account of England, from the hamlets, the villages, to the towns. The nuances of England and her people are very subtle. Photograph details: 1/5 sec, F4.0, ISO100, 40mm, shot using an Olympus OM-D EM5. “The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal. Always there will be the lonely ridge, the dancing beck, the silent forest; always there will be the exhilaration of the summits. These are for the seeking, and those who seek and find while there is still time will be blessed both in mind and body.” ― Alfred Wainwright, The Western Fells
